Christmas Knitting '08

This was a sock monkey hat I made for Preston to go with his stuffed sock monkey I sent him at Chistmas. Amanda said he loves the little monkey, so I hope he'll like the hat, too. I'll be mailing it to him this week.

I made several of these teeny, tiny 2" wide mini knitting purses, 'cause they're so cute!

Jamie, Brittany, and Lara trying on their new hats and scarves I made.

And, my promise to myself for 2009----I WILL do more knitting and start early for Christmas next year!

Another Scarf and Hat

This is a hat and scarf set I made for my daughter, Brittany, for Christmas. It turned out cute, but the yarn was so bulky and heavy to handle. The good side, though, is that it knits up quickly. I used Lion Brand WoolEase Thick and Quick, which is cozy and cuddly for a winter knit set. Hope she likes it!

Christmas Knitting

I made these caps for my grandson, Preston, and his dad, Ray, so they could have a "look-a-like" outfit when they are out and about. So far, it's the only knitting I've finished for Christmas. Got to speed things up!

EEEEK!!!!!!!!! I've promised myself I'd have everyone something knitted by Christmas and it's NOT happening! Amanda wants a blue shawl which she picked out in my pattern book, Lara is waiting for a knitted tote bag, and Brittany and Jamie are supposed to get scarves and a new dog sweater for Maggie. Besides the caps, this scarf is the only other project that is almost finished. The scarf is why I've been bogged down and getting nowhere. After putting jillions of hours of work into it, I almost feel like I should keep it for myself because I'm the only one who really knows how it's occupied my life for the last 3 weeks. It's all because of the cable pattern, which is beautiful, but makes the knitting shrink up as it goes along, so it seems like FOREVER to get it finished!

I loved knitting it, but next time I'll use a bulkier yarn and larger needles to make it knit up faster.

The pattern came from the best knitting site of all: Ravelry.

Amanda

Yea! Amanda's here for a visit and she loves her shrug. I couldn't wait for Christmas to give it to her. I'm glad she has it now to enjoy it while the weather is already pretty cool here.

Lacy Mohair Scarf

This yarn is so luxurious feeling! It's Paton's Nuance, a mohair blend. I'm using plastic Lion Brand scarf knitting needles #15 which is getting on my nerves really bad because the yarn won't slide very easily. That can be a good thing for a beginner knitter, but I think I'll go buy some aluminum needles today to make the knitting go a little faster. I'm not sure who this is going to yet..........hmmmmmmmm........maybe ME for a change!

Completed Shrug!

Here's the shrug still on the needles .........AND
This is the finished product (modeled by MOI, which actually fits too tight!. It will look much better on my daughter, as it won't be so tight on her! I love how it turned out and now I think I'll have to make two more for my other two daughters!

Amanda's Shrug

I'm struggling along making a knitted shrug for my daughter, Amanda. It's almost finished and I'll have to find someone her size to try it on pretty soon. The reason I said I'm struggling......is because the pattern said to "pick up stitches" along the neck opening which I found difficult. I truly need help with this the next time I try a pattern with picking up stitches. It's not supposed to be hard to do, so I must be making it into a problem. LOL

Here's a picture of the shrug from the Lion Brand website where I found this pattern. It's called:Lion Brand Homespun Pattern # 60082AD
